Manufacturing Capabilities
We combine outsourced casting with in-house CNC machining to deliver complete iron components. This page explains our processes and what you can expect when working with us.
Casting Sourcing
We work with established foundry partners for casting production. This allows us to focus on what we do best — precision machining — while ensuring consistent casting quality from suppliers we know and trust.
Grey Iron (EN-GJL)
Standard grade: EN-GJL-250 (equivalent to GG25). Good machinability, vibration dampening, and wear resistance.
- Housings and covers
- Brackets and supports
- Base plates
Ductile Iron (EN-GJS)
Available grades: EN-GJS-400, EN-GJS-500, EN-GJS-600. Higher strength and impact resistance than grey iron.
- Load-bearing components
- Wheel hubs and axle parts
- Tractor and machinery components
How Casting Works
Pattern Development: If you need new tooling, we coordinate pattern production with the foundry. For existing patterns, we can work with your tooling or source equivalent parts.
Casting Process: Sand casting is the primary method. Parts are cast, heat-treated if required, and then delivered to our facility for machining.
Material Verification: Castings are checked for material compliance. Material certificates can be provided upon request.
Note: Casting is outsourced to our foundry partners. We manage the relationship and quality, but do not operate our own foundry.
What We Can Machine
- Cylindrical surfaces (external and internal)
- Facing operations
- Boring and internal turning
- Thread cutting (metric and imperial)
- Groove cutting
- Tapers and chamfers
- Surface finishing to specification
Tolerances to drawing
Various diameters
CNC Turning Operations
CNC turning is our core competency. We operate modern CNC lathes capable of producing accurate cylindrical features, threads, and surface finishes on cast iron components.
Precision
Tolerances depend on part geometry and requirements. Standard machining tolerances are achievable; tighter tolerances available on request.
Surface Finish
Various surface finishes available depending on functional requirements. Specify your Ra values and we'll confirm feasibility.
Setup
First article approval before series production. Programs saved for repeat orders to ensure consistency.
Secondary Operations
Additional machining beyond turning
Drilling
Precision hole placement on turned components. Multiple hole patterns, various diameters, and depth requirements.
- Through and blind holes
- Counterboring
- Countersinking
Threading
Internal and external threads. Metric threads standard; imperial threads available on request.
- Tapping (internal threads)
- Thread cutting on lathe
- Thread inspection
Milling
Face milling and feature machining on components that require operations beyond turning.
- Flat surface machining
- Keyways and slots
- Complex features
Combined Operations: Most components require multiple operations. We plan the machining sequence to maintain accuracy and minimize handling. All operations are completed before final inspection.
Quality Control
Quality verification happens at multiple stages. We check incoming castings, monitor during machining, and perform final inspection before packing.
Incoming Inspection
Castings checked for visual defects, basic dimensions, and material identification. Problematic castings rejected before machining.
In-Process Control
First-off parts measured against drawing. Key dimensions monitored during production run. Adjustments made as needed.
Final Inspection
All parts checked before shipping. Critical dimensions verified. Surface quality and thread function confirmed.
Inspection Equipment
- Calipers and micrometers
- Height gauges
- Thread gauges (go/no-go)
- Surface roughness measurement
- Bore gauges
Documentation
- • Inspection reports available on request
- • Material certificates from foundry
- • First article inspection reports
- • Batch traceability records
Typical Batch Sizes
Production volumes we handle
Prototype & trial batches
Suitable for new part development, testing, and initial orders. Higher per-unit cost due to setup.
Regular production runs
Our typical order size. Good balance of unit cost and flexibility. Repeat orders welcome.
Volume production
For established parts with steady demand. Best unit pricing. May require scheduling discussion.
What Affects Pricing & Lead Time
- Part complexity and number of operations
- Tolerance requirements
- Material grade
- Casting availability
- Batch quantity
- Documentation requirements
